A tradition started long ago when Alli went on travel and was missing her dog, Frito. I would e-mail her a picture a day. Now we have a blog to share with each other, and the world. Hope you find them interesting. By the way ... does your dog have a blog?

Just a baby mountain
As you can see, Mt. Kearsarge is just a baby mountain. Not even a 3,000 footer. We need to get Frito out this summer and tackle some more challenging mountains. He'd just love it!

Green eyes behind bars
On Alli's Bed
A beautiful dog on a beautiful quilt on a beautiful girl's bed. Frito must be looking for Alli. Don't worry Frito -- she sees you almost every day on the blogosphere! Oh yeah, speaking of Alli and the blogosphere, you can check out her brand new blog: Alli's Awesome Adventures, or via the links section, and see what she's been up to!
Froggylegs
It's the ellusive - but very famous - "froggylegs". This is when Frito kicks out his back legs and gets his belly right on the ground, and then shimmies forward for a combo stretch and belly rub. I'll have to keep my eye out for a better photo, but to date, this is the only one I've got! Now that's hard to believe.

Frito saying "Goodbye" to Alli
Due to my Dad's internet issues, I decided to post one of my favorite pictures and save him the trouble. Here I am about to depart to Nova Scotia for a five week French immersion program. Lyssy and Emily, my next door neighbors, and of course Frito are wishing me luck! You can even see that Frito is smiling! He's so cute!

Frito is outstanding in his field
Yes, he certainly is, as well as king of his domain. Surveying the lower fourty. And such a magnificent creature.
I hope to be able to keep posting Frito-a-Day, but on the plane ride out to Japan, I broke off something in the recharging plug. So if I can't get that fixed, I'm toast once my battery juice is used up. Wish me luck.

Sometimes I runs, and sometimes I walks

Oh Boy, Out for a Walk
Well, we are both home now, and able to take Frito out for his daily walk. You can see he is a happy camper (but then he almost always is). Our routine now is to let him run free on our street and in the fields, but on the main road, we are keeping him on a short leash, and teaching him good manners (walking right at our side). He is such a smart boy, this training will be very easy.

Mom and Frito say Hi
By the time I get this posted, Frito and Carol should be reunited, hence the photo selection. And I suspect Frito may look a little ticked off (as in this picture) that we galavanted our way to Hawaii for over a week. But we got to see Alli, and that was good. And our very generous neighbors, and in particular the J-man, gave Frito lots of attention, so life is good for all. New pictures when I return home on Wednesday.

See you later, Alli-gator
As we wrap up our Classic Frito week, and our trip to Hawaii, we have to say goodbye to Alli. What a wonderful location to be going to college! Of course, Alli misses her Frito, but that would be true anywhere. So we'll keep the Frito-a-day photos coming, and will have to take a whole bunch of new pictures when we get home. Love you Alli.

Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Here is Frito after a nice swim in Tucker Pond. He looks for his towel in the sun, and then starts "rollin', rollin', rollin'". He usually does a few "froggy legs" as well to dry off his belly, but we'll have to save that for another picture, since I can't find one of those.
And if you were curious about the old TV series theme sone lyrics, they are below (yes, I know 'doggies' in this context are cattle, but hey, Frito's never seen the reruns):
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them doggies rollin'
Rawhide!
Rain and wind and weather
Hell-bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side.
All the things I'm missin',
Good vittles, love, and kissin',
Are waiting at the end of my ride
CHORUS
Move 'em on, head 'em up
Head 'em up, move 'em on
Move 'em on, head 'em up
Rawhide
Count 'em out, ride 'em in,
Ride 'em in, count 'em out,
Count 'em out, ride 'em in
Rawhide!
Keep movin', movin', movin'
Though they're disapprovin'
Keep them doggies movin'
Rawhide!
Don't try to understand 'em
Just rope, throw, and brand 'em
Soon we'll be living high and wide.
My hearts calculatin'
My true love will be waitin',
Be waitin' at the end of my ride.
Rawhide!
Rawhide!

"My, what big ears you have ..."
If Frito had auditioned for the role of the "Big Bad Wolf", I'm quite sure he would have gotten it. Of course then they'd have to call him the "Rather Petite, Really Quite Adorable, Yorkshire Terrier", and there would have been no room left for "Little Red Riding Hood" (instead, we would have shortened it to "Alli").

How indignant
Frito never relishes the "putting on of the sweater" prelude to a winter walk. He thinks it is just so undignified. He's really not sure his little legs are meant to bend this way and that so as to fit through the sweater holes. Some people will put up with just about anything to get their daily walk!
