Walking in Springfield, OR

While we are waiting for our solar installation to be completed, Mom and Alpha found a nice walk to take to give me some exercise. This is much better than riding in the RV for long stretches, as was required to get up here.


The path follows along a local river, and is off the main road, so I can explore on a long leash, and check out all the new smells.


And here's the McKenzie River and one of its tributaries. These guys in Oregon sure do have lots of water!

Snoozin'

Boy, who'da thunk that riding in an RV could be so tiring. But after a while of lying in my bed, I wanted a change of scenery to rest my nosie.

Can you think of any place more comfortable? Did I mention that I get petted the whole time?

Ears with a view

What's the only thing better than a beautiful view of Big Sur on the Pacific Coast Highway?

Well, some beautiful ears to go with it.

Oh, and perhaps you were expecting a "room" with a view.


OK then, I present you with the best of both worlds. Ta da!

Stretch breaks

I've been an RV riding pooch lately. So I'm happy for a "stretch" break whenever I can get it. I'll take one with Alpha (in this case during a delay for road repair).


Or I'll take one with Mom (taking advantage of some local color).


Or I'll just take one all by myself.

As big as moi

Check out the size of those pine cones. Omigosh! Those babies are heavy and sharp -- I sure wouldn't want one to fall on me.


Here we are on a trail walk in the San Gabriel mountains. Perhaps you can tell by Alpha's shadow that he's carrying one of those pine cones back to the camp site. At least that is when Mom wasn't carrying it ;-)

My new RV

Check out my new RV. OK, ok, our new RV. Well, would you believe our new-to-us RV.

Sure, fine, it's what some might call a used RV. But don't tell me it's not cool ;-)

It's a Lazy Daze 2000 26.5' Mid-Bath, and we've name it Thistle Dew Too. You can read about our RVing adventures over at that blog, if you want.


And lookie here ... we have our own name plate on it! Woo-hoo!

Life's a beach

Well, here I am in Los Angeles (yes, I'm a star ;-)

Alpha took me out for a run, and we headed down to the beach. Man, this is beautiful!


He even let me run briefly on the beach (when no one was watching ;-) I had lots of fun. Woo hoo.

And so it begins

And so begins our odyssey. Two months to try out the RV lifestyle. Wow.


But first Mom and Alpha have to get me to California, where they pick up the new-to-us RV. So that means flying in an airplane. And that mean being in a pet carrier. I've never done either before.


So they warm me up in the Red Carpet club. That was nice, because they opened up the top and pet me a bunch.


And then in the airplane, the stewardess said it was OK for me to have my carrier open. Once I got out (oops), and then Alpha put me on a leash just to make sure I didn't bother any other passengers.

It's a six-hour flight (plus pre-flight waiting time) to get to LA. Boy, that's a long flight. But you know what? Mom and Alpha said I was an EXCELLENT traveler! Woo hoo.

Immortalized

Well, my girl is home from school now. We went up to Halifax to pick her up. THAT was a lot of driving.

And she had a birthday recently. This is one of her B-day presents that she got once she was home.

Yes, that's moi, and I'm immortalized in a bigger-than-life tapestry.

Springtime Froggy Legs

Ola! I'm reveling in the springtime weather.

And just to show you how happy I am that Spring is here, I thought I'd show off my Froggy Legs to you.

That's when I put my belly on the ground, and drag myself with my front paws while my back legs are fully extended.

Don't ask me why we call it "froggy legs". Somethings just are what they are. ;-)

Happy Birthday, Alli!

Guess who's special day it is today ...

That's right, it's Alli's Birthday. Woo hoo!

Unfortunately, Alli's is grinding away in the middle of finals right now. Not such a great way to spend your B-day.

But she'll be coming home for the summer very shortly. In fact, I will see her this weekend!!!!!!!!!

Now *that* will be a Birthday present! Lip-smackers from Frito! Awesome!

Christening the lawn furniture

It may be hard to tell, but I'm sitting on one of those green plastic Adirondack-style lawn chairs.

Do you know what that means?

Yes, it means the lawn furniture has been taken out of storage, and therefore Spring must surely have arrived. Woo hoo.

Sooooo viscious

Well, it's feeling like Spring around here.

So I was walking around my yard (finally), and just happened to take an interest in this stick.

Well, as you can see, I taught that stick a lesson.

Which is that I can be soooooo viscious when I want to be. And cute!

Front and back

Well, I just know you need to see more pictures of my new clean-cut look.

And guess what -- nice weather has arrived to accompany my new "summer" cut (thank goodness)

Before and After

Yeah, I knew you wouldn't believe the transformation Dara performed.

So I had Alpha take "before" and "after" photos.


Notice how Mom looks the same in both, but it appears that she's holding two DIFFERENT dogs!

Out goes the fur ball, and in comes the sleek, dashing, terrier with occasional chihuahua ears.

Hey, either way, I am adorable.

But man, I sure do look different!

Look who got a haircut

Well, actually, I got them all cut (ba-da-bing).

Ya, I'm a little shy on my first day after getting my summer cut.

I feel ... well ... a little nekked.

But my family tells me over and over just how cute and adorable I am. And sweet smelling.

So, I learn to get over my shyness pretty fast.

This is in honor of my grooming session yesterday.

In the orchard

Now that I'm on my good behavior when leash walking, my parents walk me by the apple orchard every day or so. At that point, they take me off leash and let me run like the wind.

This photo shows me while I'm catching my breath. It feels good to rest after running wild and free.

Sleeping

So here's how it goes:

I wake up Alpha at some ungodly hour in the morning, and make him feed me breakfast.

Then he has to stay up for the rest of the morning and work, while I get to go back to bed (hee, hee).

Here I am sleeping in Alpha's temporary office (aka Alli's bedroom).

So at least he gets to hear me puppy-snort in my sleep while he's slaving away (hee, hee)

Sounds like a good deal to me ;-)

Greg is a good player. I count on him to be there when I need some attention.

But sometimes he's too good. He grabs on, and won't let me have it!

Time for Spring already

Well, come on -- it is time for Spring, donchathink?

I stick my tongue out at this snow that just won't leave.

Come on, already, Spring -- we're waiting!

Stealin' the leatha

"Hey Mom, would you get me a snack?" (hee, hee, hee)

Sure enough, there she goes -- off the sofa -- over to the kitchen to get me my snack.

So I quickly and quietly move from "my spot" in the middle of the sofa (on the white sheepskin) ...

... over to Mom's seat (aka "the leatha").

And when she comes back, do you know what I say????

Come on, dooya????
