Don't look down

We went up to see the Eagle's Nest, known as the Kehlsteinhaus in German. I'll tell you more about it later. First, I have to catch my breath being this close to the edge ;-) Hold on tight Alpha!

The Zen of Frito

So we were walking along this riverbed, and came across these rock statues. Very Zen, doncha think? I fit right in. Can we all say "Om"?

Here I am with Alpha checking out the nice rushing stream. This was near our hotel in the vicinity of Berchtesgaden, Germany. It was a nice trip. I'll show you more photos of the area this week, 'K?

So that's the first week back -- are ya happy now?

Well just check out the rainbow over Mr. Good-Lookin'.

Weekend in Lucerne

So here I am with Mom, in front of the famous Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) over the Reuss River that exits Lake Lucerne.

This bridge was originally built in 1333 to help folks get to Church ;-) Now it helps tourists get to shopping (hee, hee).

And check out this funky bathroom. Which just happened to be located in a funky hotel room. But it was pretty cool -- all except for those church bells -- we were right next door ;-)

Looks like he did it again ...

That's right -- he ran another marathon. This time in lovely Lucerne, Switzerland (and I got to come along!)

Here's Alpha at the start. Notice how he is smiling, seemingly oblivious to the upcoming 42.195 km (hey, we're in Europe donchaknow).

Well now take a look at him. He'll be lucky to beat that guy. Only about a mile more to the finish line now.

And how did Alpha do? Well, his goal was to break 4 hours. And he did it -- he ran in 3:54, which was 17 minutes faster than his previous PR and 21 minutes faster than his last marathon. So I'd say a hearty woo-hoo is in order. That's my alpha ;-)

At least they're quiet

Met up with a few critters on my last walk with Mom and Alpha.

And this German guy with the big staff. I wanted to play, but no one was moving a muscle.

So I guess I'll practice being a lapdog.

Lookie who's back

You know -- what's his name -- the guy with the hat.

Oh never mind, just keep posting ;-)

Monday, November 16, 2009

I know you've been deprived ...

... So here are a bunch of photos to start to make up for it ;-) First, you get me looking adorable ;-)

But whatever you do, don't try to take away my frisbee. Because it's mine -- nah, nah, nah, nah, na, nah

However, I will let you pet me, but don't try to take that frisbee ...

... because if you do, a vicious game of tug-o-war will ensue. And you know ...

... who will be victorious, right? OK, now we can go for a walk. ;-)

Time to play

All work and no play ... makes Alpha not only dull, but a highly unreliable Frito-a-Day poster.

So I took it upon myself to create some "play time" with my frisbee to get the parents out of the house.

And boy am I fast. Hee, hee. Catch me if you can, Alpha!

And while you are doin' the "play thing", don't forget to post!

Very attractive couple

Well, well. Look who's back! And more attractive than ever! Am I talking about moi or Mom? I'll say "yes" ;-)

And we have to encourage Alpha too. Go, Alpha, Go. Keep those posts coming!

Dining with the family

Ah, the joys of Germany. Dining al fresco with the family. Look, they even let me sit in the dinner chair. Now that is what I consider a civilized culture. Wake up, America (hee hee).

Cute and a little shaggy

OK, now tell me that's not the cutest puppy you ever did see.

This one was taken before my haircut, so I am a little shaggy, but personally, I think it just makes me even more cute and cuddly ;-)

Donchathink?

Big Dog

Check this out. I'm looking like a big dog, with a big chew stick.

Well, it's a little short now that I've chewed on it, but see how thick it is. It *was* a big chew stick ;-)

Rompin' in the grass

Ooooh, this is nice. A large park smack dab in the heart of Stuttgart.

The grass is so cool, it feels good on my paws. I think I'll just romp around a bit, if you don't mind.

Time to get me out

OK guys, this was a nice way to cool me off.

But I think it is time to get me out now.

How about a little help please?

Big dog, big bone

Donchaknow -- only a big dog can handle a big bone like this.

Yes, indeedy, I am one Big Dog!

I'm in good hands

I would just like the record to show ...

I'm in some very good hands ...

Don't you think? After all ... You can see that Alli loves me ...

... and Alpha loves me ...

... and Mom loves me ...

... and Greg loves me ...

OMG -- what a well-loved poochie I am, yes I am!!

Did ya know I was an actor?

Have you ever seen such a good actor? Come on ... of whom do I remind you?

Oh come on ... I'll give you a hint ... think Lion King ...

That's right, I'm playing Timon the Meerkat! Pretty good, huh?

Oh yeah, and here's my buddy Pumbaa the Warthog. Ha!

And you know what they say .... "Hakuna Matata" Alli (sounds very Hawaiian doesn't it?)

Textured walk

Now this was rather cool. In this neat little park inside Garmisch, we came upon this "texture" path. So Alli and Cheryl were adventurous and checked it out. Shoes off -- they are feeling all the different surfaces with their bare feet.

Really kinda cool.

Cowabunga, dude

What the heck are Alli and Cheryl doing. Hey ladies ... surf is NOT up!

Alli must need to get back to Hawaii (hee, hee)

Just A-maze-ing

Though it is hard to see from this picture, Alli and Cheryl have followed a maze all the way into the center.

Me? I just walk over the edges of the maze. Now you tell me who is more clever ;-)

Having a cow

Looks like Alli and Cheryl found an interesting park bench in Garmisch.

How Now Black Cow? (Hee hee)

Cheryl and Alli

Here I am sitting on the deck on the Zugspitzplatz with my girl and her friend Cheryl.

Soaking in some rays. Just enjoying life. Just chillin'

Skiing anyone?

There was quite a bit of snow up here.

You can see some ski lifts in the background behind Alli, Cheryl, and moi.

And I think you can see what a gorgeous day we had. Woo hoo!

Snowball fight?

I think Alli is getting ready to nail me.

I better get a move on.

Nah, she would never do that. She's looking for Alpha (hee, hee)

Laughing with Alli

It was a beautiful sunny day for visiting the top of a mountain.

Here I am on the Zugspitzplatz -- an intermediate level at 2600 m where the cog rail takes you (the peak is 2962 m reached by a short cable car ride) .

In this sitting area, we found some teeter-totter logs, and this one has Alpha on one end and Alli on the other.

They seemed to have fun trying to keep in balance.

Humans -- go figure ;-)

On top of the Zugspitze

OK, this is cool. Here we are on the highest mountain in all of Germany -- the Zugspitze. That's Alpha, Mom, Alli and her friend Cheryl (plus moi of course). The Zugspitze is a little under 10,000 feet tall.

It was a gorgeous day, and we stayed up there for a while. We took their cog railway up to a lower summit, and then a cable car to the top. Doncha worry -- I'll show more pictures soon.

Red, red Rover

I look good against any color, but don't I just jump out against Mom's red shirt?

Friday, June 26, 2009

Lookin' good

Here I am with my family at the Plansee, just over the border in Austria. It's on the back road between two of King Ludwig II's castles: Neuschwanstein and Scloss Linderhof.

It's a very pretty area, and made even more pleasant to look at by my presence (hee, hee)

Whispering

Can you tell what Alli is whispering in my ear?

Think she's whispering sweet doggy nothings?

Nope -- she's saying "Psst, Frito, lookout, Alpha's taking yet another photo."

Hee, Hee

It's all just a blur

This is from our walk down after visiting Neuschwanstein castle (you know, the one Walt Disney modeled the Cinderella castle on).

It was so cool taking our trip down to Bavaria with Alli's friend Cheryl. We packed so much in to a short visit, that it's all somewhat of a blur (get it? ;-)

I'll show you more pictures later. Here is one to remind you of the castle:

Shhh, I'm praying

OK, so here we are, in the middle of nowhere, and look what we come across. One of the largest and most ornate churches I've ever seen (and yes, I've seen a few ;-)

This is inside Weiskirche, located in ... Weis, Germany (they are so original with their names). It is just amazing.

Now don't think me sacreligious. Can't you see my head is bowed?

Shhhhh, I'm praying.

Thanks, Mom, for taking me through this cool church.

Me and My Girl

A little tribute to Alli -- I got to see her for about 6 weeks this spring -- woo hoo!

She's back in Hawaii now, and while I miss her a lot, I'm very happy for all of the visiting and sightseeing we got to do during her trip.

Happy Alpha Day

Obi-Won-Omega wishes a happy Alpha Day to my favorite big dog.

Omega you may call me, but this remember ye:

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is."

"May the force be with you!"

Hee-hee ;-)

Last Dance

Well, well, it certainly has been a long time.

Since we last spoke, both Greg and Alli have visited me in Germany -- woo hoo! In fact, Alli just left after spending about 6 weeks here while on break from Chaminade. That's the reason for the blog title. This photo was my "last dance" with Alli before she left on her 25-hour trip back to Honolulu.

And not only that, it was the last photo before Alpha's nice Nikon camera bit the big one. Here's what a photo later that day looked like. Oops.

We stopped into a camera store in Stuttgart and learned that the camera's sensor is "kaput". It will cost as much to fix it as to replace the camera. So that will have to be a task for the future.

But fear not! Alpha took so many pictures during my absence from Frito-a-Day, that we'll just make him work backwards to show you some of the cool things I've been up to.

More to follow ...
