All warm now

So after coming home, rolling to dry off, getting snacked and playing fetch, it's time to snooze.

This looks rather warm and cozy, donchathink?

I've even been known to wait by the sofa, and tell Mom to "assume the position", so that I can lie next to her legs. And she usually accommodates me.

Not that I have my parents wrapped around my little paw ... I'm just sayin'.

Monday, November 29, 2010

Umm ... what am I doing up here?

Alpha? What am I doing on the kitchen counter next to the blender?

Yes, I know you think the outfit is very cute, but really? Is this necessary?

OK, this makes a little more sense.

It's very cold outside, and even though I've been walking through the snow, I'm dry and toasty in this combination of flannel PJs and waterproof parka.

BTW, if anyone is interested to know, Mom bought both of these outfits (and all of my safety orange vests) from Toni at www.blackdogfarm.biz.

Now it's your turn to follow me!

This is what my parents call "balking". When we are out for a walk, and I decide I don't like where we are going.

Some people might even call it "stubborn". Kinda like a mule, ya know?

But really, I just call it "opinionated". Hey, why do they always get to decide where to go?

I mean, really, I am over 10 years old now. Don't I get to have a say in our destination?

Well, OK then ... Follow me!

And speaking of following me, did you know you can actually do that on my new, updated, blog? That's right. Take a look on the right side of Frito-a-Day (near the top) and you can click the "follow"  button.

Then I'll know how much you like my blog ;-)  See that:  opinionated with an ego ;-)

Yo! Snow! WTH?

Oh My God! Is it time for snow already? I'm finding this just a little bit rude.

Now I will admit it is kinda pretty. But ya know what? It can be as pretty as it wants to be in the Alps. For me, I'll take leaves over snow any day.

Oh well, at least one of us is smiling! Hey Mom, doncha think this trail is a little bit muddy?

So I think I'll vote with my paws. And my paws say: "Let's go home now."

Keeping you all on your toes

I need to make two statements of the obvious:
  1. Alpha must indeed know how to make these pictures, since he's done it again. Now I'd like to ask him to stop already. I am really getting dizzy.
  2. Frito-a-Day has a new look. Why? Because Alpha really was trying to fix the video problem. But as it turns out, the problem is still there (bad Blogger! bad YouTube!) Alpha promises to look into it further.
Until that happens, I'll just have to keep y'all entertained with my photos ;-)

And that should be easy, because I am so cute. Here I am running along full-speed, but with out all the spinning-dizzy-craziness (hee, hee).

And here I am actually stationary. You can see it's getting colder outside, as I know am sporting two layers. Perrtty snazzy, though, donchathink?

I'm so dizzy

Hey, Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you all have a great turkey day (or tofurky day, or in my parent's case, nice Indian vegan dinner, hee, hee).

So check out this photo. Makes me dizzy just looking at it. Don't ask Alpha how he captured it, because it was just a fluke. But it's kinda neat.

And here's what the woods are like where we were walking that day. All the leaves had just recently come down, and it's rather loud walking through them. And with Alpha's, ahem, great movie skills, I expect this short movie may make you dizzy as well.

Oh, are you looking for some more nostalgia? OK, this time thanks to Tommy Roe and Freddy Weller:

[chorus]

Dizzy
I'm so dizzy, my head is spinnin'
Like a whirlpool, it never ends
And it's you, girl, makin' it spin
You're makin' me dizzy

First time that I saw you, girl, I knew that I just had to make you mine
But it's so hard to talk to you with fellas hangin' round you all the time
I want you for my sweet pet
But you keep playin' hard to get
Goin' around in circles all the time

[chorus]

I finally got to talk to you and I told you just exactly how I felt
Then I held you close to me and kissed you and my heart began to melt
Girl, you've got control of me
'Cause I'm so dizzy I can't see
I need to call a doctor for some help

[chorus x2]

A walk through the fields

So here I am hunting molies. You know, those vicious critters that tunnel through the earth and leave piles of dirt at their entry points. I can often smell them with my super-sensitive sniffer, and I wait, ready to pounce.

But, sad to say, I have yet to get one.

Anyways, you'll get a nice panorama of the fields near our house. It's really a great place to walk when the weather is warm and the sun is shining.

Which means that's a rare event ;-) Ha, ha, just kidding (well, maybe not with winter coming soon).

Charlie and the Rugrats

Hey, welcome back to 2010. That was a fun trip down memory lane. And to ease you back into it, I thought I'd mix up a recent movie with a little nostalgia.

You've heard of "Bennie and the Jets," right?

Well, this is completely different (LOL). This is "Charlie and the Rugrats."

Charlie is a neighbor of mine, and the father of quite a little progeny, and we have bumped into them a couple of times on our walks.

Man, talk about a bunch of yippers! I tell ya, they give us Yorkies a bad name.

And they bring out the yipper in me too. And that's hard to do because I'm, rather perfect, donchaknow!

Oh, and for those of you that are nostalgic, just thank Elton John and Bernie Taupin:

Hey kids, shake it loose together
The spotlight's hitting something
That's been known to change the weather
We'll kill the fatted calf tonight
So stick around
You're gonna hear electric music
Solid walls of sound

[chorus]
Say, Candy and Ronnie, have you seen them yet
But they're so spaced out, B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Oh but they're weird and they're wonderful
Oh Bennie she's really keen
She's got electric boots a mohair suit
You know I read it in a magazine
B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets

Hey kids, plug into the faithless
Maybe they're blinded
But Bennie makes them ageless
We shall survive, let us take ourselves along
Where we fight our parents out in the streets
To find who's right and who's wrong

[repeat chorus x2]

Woof! Someone let me in!

Hey Alpha. Unless you want me to break down this screen door, you better open up.

(I just love to boss around the 'rents -- hee, hee.)

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Do you like my mustache?

I find it rather dashing, don't you think? But of course!

Just like the rest of me -- simply adorable!

Saturday, November 20, 2010

We appear to be somewhere very green

and a little dark and dank. Check out all of that moss.

Yup. We're talking green. If it were any greener, I'd be a frog, not a dog (hee, hee)

Friday, November 19, 2010

Shhh, don't want to wake the dead

Hey Alpha, do you really think this is the place to be taking photos?

Seems a little spooky to me.

But of course, I can look good in any setting, if you insist.

Me and my siblings

Aww look. It's my girl! (and moi, of course). Looks like we are near my NH home.

And here I am with my short-haired 'Bro. Don't think it's been like that for quite a while.

Flying ears (2005)

OK, sorry for that short pause in this long trip in the wayback machine.

Don't worry, you'll find the missing posts if you just scroll down.

But I wanted to welcome you back with my flying ears. I know, they're pretty special if I do say so myself!

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Oh yeah, it's a classic (2005)

Check it out -- my girl and me at Tucker Pond.

Missing ... warm ... sunny ... weather ...

Alli, can you figure out how to get me into Hawaii?

Monday, November 15, 2010

Sittin' on the sofa back (2005)

See, here I am on the back of the sofa, looking out our large picture windows at the back yard (and all the critters that visit).

Woah, gotta grab that boney and use it as a chin rest so it doesn't fall (unless, of course, I want to make Mommy or Alpha pick it up.) Hey Alpha? Wanna fetch? (hee, hee)

Exploring Tucker Pond (2005)

This is the outlet at Tucker Pond. Where the spring-fed water leaves the pond over a small dam. We're doing some exploring by canoe, so we can get in pretty close to the end.

Oh yeah, and we're looking for frogs and turtles. And I'm hoping the girls let me jump in a chase them (but somehow I doubt it).

Hey, would ya lookee who is in the back of the canoe! Alpha, are you sure you have a license to steer this thing? What, none needed? There's a bureaucrat somewhere that needs to reconsider that decision (hee, hee)

OK, just try to tell me I'm not the cutest pup you ever did see!

Ahhh, soaking up the sun on Tucker Pond. Now that is the life. (Especially while I'm stuck indoors in the fast-approaching German winter ;-)

Saturday, November 13, 2010

This is why they give me a towel

Otherwise, I'm just going to roll on whatever is near by to help dry off.

Grass and leaves and other debris. Dirt and sand.

Oh yeah, trust me, I can make myself very dirty.

But hey, when I'm up at the cottage, all I have to do is jump back into Tucker Pond and I'm clean again!

The Michelin Girl?

Hey look, it's Lissy.

She's trying to make herself into the Michelin Girl.

Such a kidster.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Hey, I can read

So if I can't have my purple mousey next to me, the next best thing is reading a mousey book.

Hey, don't look at me that way.

I can read.

Heck, how do you think I post to this blog every day? Yeesh.

Christmastime 2004

Hey look, it's the whole family!

Greg, 'Bro, we need to talk about your medication, though (hee, hee)

Kinda gets ya in the chestnut-roasting spirit, now doesn't it?

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

Me and Skippy (2004)

Awww, look who it is.

My favorite cat (although I liked all of them).

But Skippy was my favorite.

My girl at Tucker Pond

You know who it is ... It's

"My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)" Alli!

OK, you can sign the whole song.

All together now ...

(with many thanks, and one apology, to The Temptations) ...

I've got sunshine
On a cloudy day.
When it's cold outside,
I've got the month of May.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

I've got so much honey
The bees envy me.
I've got a sweeter song
Than the birds in the trees.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

Ooooh, Hoooo.

Hey, hey, hey.
Hey, hey, hey.

I don't need no money,
Fortune or fame.
I've got all the riches, baby,
One DOG can claim.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

Talkin' bout my girl.
I've got sushine on cloudy day
With my girl.
I've even got the month of May
With my girl.

Some of my next door neighbors (2004)

We're probably all gathered for a BBQ at our neighbor's house.

Of course, that's Alli and moi.

And to the right is Lissy (or now she goes by her real name Alyssa) and Emily.

Hey, there I am with Ian too.

They're all grown up now.

And they are all good friends.

Saturday, November 06, 2010

It's purple mousey! (2004)

Awww, look at my new toy.

I still have my purple mousey, donchaknow.

Yep, even over here in Germany.

He's a buddy.

At least when I'm not trying to rip the stuffing out of him ;-)

Friday, November 05, 2010

Looks like someone ran thought some wet grass

Yeah, that would be moi.

Alpha and I were out for an early morning run.

And you know, with the dew and all ...

Well, let's just say that Alpha likes to run on trails, and apparently they are not so well kept.

But that's OK. I'll dry off on the rest of the run home.

Thursday, November 04, 2010

I'm not picky about my watercraft

Either a speed boat with a 100 hp motor or a canoe, I'm happy either way.

But, ah, just don't expect me to paddle, OK?

And in the immortal words of Will Smith "I make this look good" (hee, hee)

Hey Alpha, it's looking a little black out there tonight. Are you sure this is wise?

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

It's Rose ... with ears!

You remember, from the movie Titanic.

Rose stood on the bow of the ship and let the wind blow back her hair (just like moi).

Sometimes you need to trim the sails, er, ears a bit.

Or sometimes, I just kickback with the girls.

Ahhh, life at Tucker Pond.
