Running buddies (2009)

Frito and Alpha were running buddies.  Eventually, Frito slowed down some and shortened his distance, but even in 2009 he could still run about 6 miles into work with Alpha.

And then he would want to rest.  He was a great athelete.

And such a buddy!

He's flying

Frito's flying along a snow-packed trail.

And if you look closely, I believe he actually is flying through the air ;-)

Frito loved to run in any weather.

Sometimes you just have to blaze your own trail in the new snow.

Frito was quite the adventurer, when it came to powder snow.

Running on the snowy lane

Yes indeedy -- Frito loved the snow.

It's one of the first days of 2007 and Frito loves being outside in the crisp, clean, air.

And running.  He also loved to run.

Bright eyed

Someone's looking all bright-eyed and bushy tailed.

OK, well at least bright eyed.

We noticed while we were overseas, that Germans don't bob their dogs tails.

It would have been cute to see Frito with a long tail.  

But it wouldn't have been bushy in any case ;-)

Happy Independence Day!

How's this for showing off my independence?

I can still outrun Alpha (by a lot) and I'm 84 dog-years old!  Listen to how winded he sounds.

It's been a couple weeks since I ran like this, and truth-be-told I'm facing more health challenges today ...

But that's pretty impressive if I do say so myself.

An indoor runway too

And I don't confine my running to outdoors -- indoor is just fine and dandy for me too!

In fact, this is my new routine after a bath.  I used to go rollin', rollin', rollin' on a towel.

Now I just take off like a banshee and run back and forth, bouncing off one or more sofas.

Alpha has no idea what is going on with me, and I kinda like it that way (hee, hee).

And see how fast I can run

After walking around the garden (Alpha was not quick enough to capture that on film), I decided to run like a banshee.

Ha, ha, no one can catch me!

It's Superdog

Look.

Out there in the field.

He's faster than a speeding bullet.

He's able to leap over really, really long grass.

It's superdog!

Hey, we're almost home

Well, it's been a nice walk, and now we're almost home.

So what are we waiting for?


Time to start running!

Come on, see if you can keep up!

Man, am I gonna need a bath!

OK, so here's the story.

Alpha lost a headlamp he was carrying in a pack during a previous run to work, so he thought he would go run the trail again looking for it.

He noticed he lost it about 3.4 miles from home, so we should only have to run that far -- not bad, a little bit more than my run downtown.

Except that after we got there (and didn't find it), we still had to get home (another 3.4 miles)


Alpha tells me his plan was if I had any trouble running the whole distance, he was gonna call Mom to pick us up.

Well HA! to that. I had absolutely no problem running 6.8 miles. And I'm 77 dog years old ;-)

Yep, I still got it! Look how cool and collected I am in the photos. Then look at the sweat pouring off of Alpha. HA!

You better give me your iPhone -- next time I'll call Mom to pick YOU up Alpha. Woof woof!

Slow Poke

Oh Alpha.

What were you thinking?

I'm well ahead of you right after the gun goes off.


And I'm even further ahead, as we run down the Böblingen school running track.


And no surprise here.

I'm ahead of you at the finish line as well.

'Cause your a slow poke.

At least compared with moi (aka Speedy Gonzoles)

But the question is, do you think Alpha is more like Slow Poke Rodriguez or Sylvero Gato?

Keep me in focus ...

... if you can.

After all, I run like the wind.

And Alpha can't move that camera fast enough.

Especially if he has to run along side me to take the picture.

Running in the woods

Here I come, running though the leaves.

I'm so fast, I'm almost a blur.

You can almost hear the leaves crunching under my paws.


And such a beautiful trail through the woods.

Lovely fall in Germany. Woo hoo!

Hey everyone, let's go for a run.

It's nice to get outside, get some fresh air, and some exercise.


Just be sure to stay behind me.

'Cause let's face it ... I'm faster than you!

Shaggy goes for a walk

Yep, I'm looking a little shaggy these days.

But at least I'm running and smiling!


Well, perhaps I'm looking a bit bedraggled now.


That must be because it's getting rather hot out.

But I'm not gonna complain about the nice weather.
