A tradition started long ago when Alli went on travel and was missing her dog, Frito. I would e-mail her a picture a day. Now we have a blog to share with each other, and the world. Hope you find them interesting. By the way ... does your dog have a blog?

He's flying
Frito's flying along a snow-packed trail.
And if you look closely, I believe he actually is flying through the air ;-)
Frito loved to run in any weather.

Yummy treat?
Frito looks like he's waiting for some sort of yummy treat.
Gotta lick dem chops.
What a little shaggamuffin.

This quilt is Frito-approved!
This was a wedding quilt that Carol made for my 2nd cousin Jessica and TJ.
And so lucky for them, it is not only handmade, but Frito approved!

Play boney, anyone?
Someone's ready to play some "boney".
It could be a mini tug-o-war, or perhaps a little fetch.
It also seems Frito must have recently been in the doctor's office for a blood draw according to his left paw fur being shaved.
Guess that didn't pose too much difficulty for him.

Check out the tag
Now sure if you can read the name tag.
Right under "Frito" it says "Alli Crisp".
Yep, Frito was sure Alli's dog.

Prancing in the snow
Someone's looking pretty happy running through the snow.
In fact, I'd say he's prancing.
Like a Clydesdale, only smaller ;-)

A little shaggy
Someone's looking a little shaggy, donchuthink?
And not entirely dry.
Still shaggy, but at least dry at this point.

Happy Labor Day
After being out in the snow, Frito liked to come inside take advantage of our southerly windows.
Lying on the warm tiled floor, soaking up some rays.
Sounds like a good plan on a holiday weekend, donchu think?
Yes, that's a good plan indeed -- so gimme a high five!

Running through the snow
Sometimes you just have to blaze your own trail in the new snow.
Frito was quite the adventurer, when it came to powder snow.

Yet another sweater
Frito's looking pretty preppy, with his argyle sweater.
He's also looking a little snowy after sniffing for voles ;-)

Winter fur
It was always a dilema.
When should Frito get his haircut in the wintertime.
It's starting to get pretty long here.
But it's also so cold outside.
Friday, August 31, 2012
Quite the wardrobe
Frito had a large collection of sweaters.
So sometimes we just had a to pose him for a modeling shot.
Such a good boy.

Crazy Dog
Somebody's looking like a psycho dog.
Personally, I'd blame the photographer ;-)
Frito was always a cutie pie, but the camera shutter sometimes caught a funny face.

Frito and Kelly
Frito and Kelly were buddies.
Though that may not be obvious with Kelly showing her teeth.
But I think she just got a bit bothered when Frito kept trying to kiss her.
Yep, they sure were buddies.

Running on the snowy lane
Yes indeedy -- Frito loved the snow.
It's one of the first days of 2007 and Frito loves being outside in the crisp, clean, air.
And running. He also loved to run.

Can you pick out the gargoyle?
Last day of 2006 and here comes the snow.
That's a little more than frost on the pumpkins.
Frito loved the snow.
He was happy to go outside to play in it.

Putting my paw down
This is Frito's way of saying he's done enough Frisbee fetching.
Now he wants to rest for a while.
So leave the frisbee alone ;-)

Cute in my safety orange
But Frito always looks sharp.
And he made everyone smile when they saw his vest.
Not to mention keeping himself safe during deer hunting season ;-)

Walking through the orchard
It's a little chilly, but not bad for just before Xmas.
Frito loved his walks, no matter the weather.
Especially if his girl was home.

Go Red Sox
2006 wasn't any better a year for the Red Sox than 2012.
But at least Alli and Frito could commiserate together.

Very colorful
Well, well, it seems both Frito and Alli are sporting some colorful clothing.
This was a beautiful fall day walking through a near-by apple orchard.
What a special pair these two make.

Bright eyed
Someone's looking all bright-eyed and bushy tailed.
OK, well at least bright eyed.
We noticed while we were overseas, that Germans don't bob their dogs tails.
It would have been cute to see Frito with a long tail.
But it wouldn't have been bushy in any case ;-)

No slave to fashion
Thats Alpha we're talking about.
Nope, he's not a slave to fashion, that's for sure.
Velour is so ... 1970's ;-)
But hey, Frito was always in style, and went well with any outfit.

Butt massage
Looks like someone is getting a butt massage.
OK, officially that's the hind quarters.
Frito always yawned whenever he was getting some attention.
Never did understand that.
Thursday, August 16, 2012
What time is it?
Do you know what time it is?
Half past a terrier, going on a retriever.
Looks like it's frisbee time ;-)

Top Dog
"Hey, look at me.
I'm the top dog. I'm higher than Mom."
It's a beautiful day at our house.
"And I'm one happy poochie, can you tell?
Mom looks pretty happy too."
Frito's spirit and his voice are alive and well it seems.
Sometimes they just come out.
"OK, now flip my ear back please."
See what I mean?

Thinking about some frogs ...
... and how yummy they would taste ;-)
Actually, Frito never "ate" the frogs.
But he did try to catch them.
And when he did, they were gonners. (Thankfully, not that often.)
You could say it was Darwin at work, and the smartest ones got away.
Sorry little froggy spirits -- Frito was just following his instincts.

Explorin' with Mom
Here is Frito in our back woods, doing some exploring with Mom.
He's found a very tasty birch stick, and will be doing some serious gnawing soon.
Frito could be such a dog sometimes.
At least when he wasn't a people. ;-)

Good viewing from the sofa
This was one of Frito's favorite spots to sit.
High up on the leather sofa back.
He could turn around and look right out the window to see what the wildlife was up to.
He's seen lots of deer and wild turkeys, among other critters.

Frito's Anniversary!
Well today is Frito's anniversary. (And this picture is from 2006.)
The day Alli brought him home to his new family.
So much love given and received.
What more can any man, woman, or pooch ask for.
Happy Anniversary Frito -- we will always love you.
Thanks for being such a good dog to Alli, Greg, Mom, and Alpha.

The little runt
Here they are -- the dynamic duo.
Frito really loved her girl.
The girl that rescued him and showed him heaven on earth.
Frito had such a good life thanks to Alli picking out "the little runt."
What a lucky poochy.

Reflections of a frogger
Frito tries another approach at hunting frogs.
I'm sorry to say he was more successful this way.
But thankfully, he was only rarely successful.
He would sneak up on them on shore, and wait for them to jump into the water.
And believe it or not, sometimes he could snab them in mid-air in his mouth.
We felt bad for those frogs.
In fact, we would distract Frito sometimes to let the frogs make a clean getaway.
Such a frogger. He was not a vegan doggie.

Too long
This was on one of the trails near our neighborhood apple orchard.
Probably got loaded up with ticks.
But hey, it was a nice morning walk, so who's complaining.
Tuesday, August 07, 2012
Shadow walk
I'd recognize those silhouettes anywhere.
Especially the terrier on the left.
Out for a walk with the 'rents on a bright sunny day.
Frito always loved his walks.

Not our furniture
This fabric does not look familiar.
I think it may have been in a cabin we rented on a trip to Nova Scotia.
Frito thought it was just dandy to check out the sofa.
And why not -- we never taught him otherwise.
But really, who wouldn't want this cutie pie sitting next to them?
